The inaugural Miss Universe Nigeria competition, organized by the Silverbird Group, has recently begun. Traditionally, the MBGN winner would represent Nigeria at Miss World, while the first runner-up took the Miss Universe title. However, Miss Universe Nigeria is now becoming an independent event.
This competition introduces a fresh approach distinct from the MBGN pageant. The eligibility criteria have been expanded, welcoming single, married, single mothers, or divorced contestants. Moreover, participants can come in all body sizes, whether slender or plus-sized, and must be aged between 18 and 28.
The maiden edition started in September, and the contestants are engaged in various activities leading up to the grand finale. The winner stands to receive exciting prizes, including a car, cash rewards, endorsement deals, and the opportunity to represent Nigeria on the global stage at Miss Universe, taking place in El Salvador this December.
