I understand what each ingredient is actually doing. Knowing that niacinamide helps with oil control and tone, that glycolic acid works on texture and dullness, that zinc supports blemish-prone skin…this kind of knowledge changes how you shop.

I read formulas the way I used to read reviews. Reviews still matter, but ingredient lists matter more to me now. A five-star review doesn’t tell me anything about whether a formula will work for my skin specifically. The ingredient deck does.
