Overview
Victor Osimhen has once again found himself at the center of summer transfer rumors, but this time they could reunite him with the Premier League. Arsenal have reportedly entered talks over the Nigerian international as they turn their attention to a plethora of attacking options.
Galatasaray have been approached about a potential deal for the Super Eagles legend, with the discussions also involving Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri. The Gunnersโ interest is simply the latest development in a transfer saga about Osimhen that doesnt seem to go away. For Arsenal, it could be the chance to land one of Europeโs most deadly No. 9s. That is, if they can get Galatasaray to sell.
Talks with Arsenal come after Manchester City vaguely showed interest. The Premier League champions have since shifted their priorities.Osimhen is no stranger to links with England after spending several years of his career on these shores. The Nigeria internationalโs blend of speed, strength, and clinical finishing would make him an attractive signing for any club in need of a trustworthy striker.
The discussion over Osimhen first arose in connection with a swap deal, according to Nigerian football insiders at Bettingtop10 Nigeria. Arsenal were in conversation with Galatasaray about the potential inclusion of Martinelli, while teenage midfielder Ethan Nwaneri has also been heavily linked with a switch to Istanbul.
There is the potential for all three names to be involved in one deal. But with Arsenal asking about Osimhen, what would it take for them to get their man?
If there was ever any doubt over Galatasarayโs desire to move on from one of their best players, recent events have made clear just how highly rated Osimhen is by the Istanbul side. After initially signing on loan in 2024, he was brought back permanently for a fee of โฌ75 million, smashing the Turkish transfer record.
Since then, his scoring rate has remained consistent. Recent reports state that he has 54 goals in 74 appearances for Galatasaray across all competitions. Those goals have understandably led Galatasaray president Dursun รzbek to rule out any upcoming transfer talks involving his striker.
Key Details
Arsenal will face stiff competition should they decide to make a formal offer. Al-Hilal were reported to have tabled a mammoth ยฃ111 million bid in June, which was flat-out rejected by Galatasaray. And should they decide to enter into negotiations with the Gunners, theyโll likely want far more than just Martinelli in return. Itโs a deal that would be tricky for both sides.
In many ways, he is everything you look for in a modern striker. Capable of popping up anywhere inside the box, Osimhen is a goal-poacher through and through. His pace, power, and heading ability would give Unai Emery another weapon to deploy in attack.
Should Arsenal land Osimhen, theyโll have one of Europeโs deadliest forwards spearheading their attack. They already have Viktor Gyรถkeres and Kai Havertz, but Osimhenโs experience and knack for scoring goals would add an exciting new dimension.
Plus, heโs proved he can deal with pressure before. The Nigerian forward was signed by Napoli amid huge expectations, but scored goals when it mattered. Heโs Living That Galatasaray dream right now. The AFCON winner has scored 45 goals in 60 matches for his country. He already knows what it takes to succeed on the biggest stage, and for Nigeria fans, nothing would be better than seeing him showcase his talents in the Premier League.
If a deal can be done for either one, Arsenal may take the Galatasaray approach and pony up the cash. As of now, itโs unlikely all three names would feature in any deal. One of the biggest questions surrounding any potential move is how much he could cost. So far, there has only been speculation about his price tag. Some sources claim that Arsenal have already had talks over a potential deal, while others say that Galatasaray have no intention of selling.
As things stand, we know that the forward hasnโt asked to leave Turkey. From there, itโs anyoneโs guess. What we do know is that Arsenal have made their move and are waiting for a response from Galatasaray. Only time will tell if they open the door for talks.
