Today, King Charles was seen leaving Windsor Castle and arriving at Clarence House in London, dispelling rumors spread by Russian media claiming his demise.
The monarch, aged 75, was photographed seated in the back of a royal limousine as he departed his residence in Berkshire before reaching the capital.
Yesterday, the British embassy in Moscow issued a statement refuting claims of King Charles III’s death after various Russian media outlets reported it.
A flurry of reports circulated, citing unspecified ‘media’ sources, alleging the King’s passing due to complications from cancer. Fake statements from ‘Buckingham Palace’ announcing his ‘unexpected death’ were shared on social media.
While some prominent outlets initially reported the false news, they later corrected their stories. The British embassy emphasized the reports were unfounded.
Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized London’s response, calling it ‘pathetic.’
Pro-Kremlin outlets like BAZA online media admitted the news was based on a fake document and retracted their reports.
Independent outlet Meduza highlighted the lack of authenticity of the statement attributed to Buckingham Palace, which was not found on official royal family platforms.
Russian state news outlet RIA Novosti acknowledged the rumors’ origins and Buckingham Palace’s denial, confirming King Charles III’s continued engagement in official duties.
State news agency TASS and Kremlin’s Rossiyskaya Gazeta also confirmed the story as false, underscoring the King’s ongoing activities as reported by Buckingham Palace.
